What Must I Do To Be Saved?

People often ask "What must I do to be saved?" The Bible tells us that if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ we can be saved (Acts 16:30-31), but there are other scriptures that talk about salvation as well. Therefore, it must be understood that belief alone does not save us. Faith, or belief in Jesus, is just the first step toward salvation and it comes by hearing the word of God (Rom 10:17). We also need to be sorry for the bad things we have done and be willing to change our ways, turning to God for a better way; this is repentance (Luke 13:3). We must also confess to the world our belief that Jesus is God's only son, and that He is the only one who has the power to save us (Rom 10:9-10, Acts 8:37). Then we must be immersed in water, baptized, for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38; 8:38). Finally, we must continue to live a life that is faithful and pleasing to God (Heb 3:14).

So, God reveals to us through His word, the holy scriptures of the Bible, that in order to be saved and go to heaven there are just a few simple things we must do. We must:

Hear God's word

Believe that Jesus is God's son

Confess that Jesus is our Lord and Savior

Repent of our sins

Be baptized for the forgiveness of our sins

Live our life faithful to God

When we have done these simple things then we are on the road to heaven, having been added to His church. And as we travel along the road to heaven, all the members of the Lord's church are to continually support each other through good times and bad, helping each other continue to serve God in living according to His desire. If you desire to live a life pleasing to God, to be supported and helped in this life by like-minded people who also want to please God, and if you want to receive a home in Heaven when this life is over, then let us help you. It is our goal, our life mission, to seek out others like you who want to be part of the family of God!
